Blank Page Revival (BPR) is our month-long creative writing program for AAPI ages 25+. BPR challenges its writers to overcome their perfectionism, channel communicable creative practices, and tackle a new piece of work from start to finish in just 30 days.
The program is centered around risk, play, collaboration, and building a sustainable writing practice.
So, what are the “risks” involved? At the start of the month, participants are intentionally blind matched with a writing partner, and each duo is tasked with co-writing a piece in a specific genre/form — we keep both the pairing and genre a surprise until the IRL kickoff! (past themes have included “Choose Your Own [Adventure]” and “Humor”)
We are happy to announce that BPR 2026 will kick off with an in-person creative writing event in San Francisco! 20 participants will engage in community-building sessions, writing sprints, and creative reboot sessions alongside their fellow cohort. After the in-person event, writers will then participate in three virtual sessions with their creative writing partner and dedicated writing coach. The goal of the program is to have a completed piece of collaborative writing done in 30 days.
Program dates:
Application deadline: June 19, 2026
Sliding scale cost: $250-$350 (please see FAQ below for cost transparency and outline)
BPR is not a traditional writing workshop in many ways! Think of BPR as a Writing Practice Audit. We are focused more on expanding our writing practice, as opposed to publishing polished pieces.
In the spirit of accessibility, we don't charge application fees. However, as a completely volunteer-run organization, we encourage applicants that are able to make a tax-deductible donation to help us cover admin / tech costs ($5-10 goes a long way!).
Applications will close on June 19, 2026 at 11:59pm PST / June 20, 2026 at 2:59am EST.
You are welcome to apply if you can commit to being in San Francisco for the in-person kickoff event; otherwise, the three virtual sessions are designed for writing duos and coaches to collaborate from far and wide.
However, while you don’t have to be based in San Francisco, we unfortunately cannot subsidize travel at this time.
Due to the volume of applications and Slant’d being a completely volunteer-run organization, we regrettably can’t respond personally to every submission. If you are accepted as a part of our 2026 cohort, then you will be notified by July 10th.
As a volunteer-run org and young nonprofit we're not yet at a place that this program can remain fee free for all participants. It is our long-term goal for BPR to be fully subsidized/supported by future ticketed programs or financially sponsored by a recurring partner (pls send any leads our way at programs@slantd.com ;D).
Fee: The minimum program fee per person is $250, which reflects the true cost to execute this program. To support or help subsidize other members of the cohort, we suggest that those that are able to, commit to contribute at the $350 level which is closer to the value of program (This is a $87.50/weekly fee over 4 weeks). This fee does not cover any compensation of volunteer hours by our team, the full cost of food/bev for the kickoff, venue fee, any travel for the coaches or full cost of travel for the Slant'd team. Please see below for cost transparency and fundraising opportunities.
What program cost covers:
Fundraising opp/scholarships: There will be two scholarship positions available in our 2026 cohort that will be 50% of the program fee or pay-what-you-can. Please indicate this in your application, this will not affect your eligibility.
We understand that fees can be prohibitive and do not want cost to be a barrier to any participants. For those that are able to fundraise personally, the team will provide resources. There will also be fundraising opportunities to join with our BPR alumni and team. If you are not sure you can raise this amount, we still urge everyone to apply and email our team programs@slantd.com for financial assistance if accepted.
Program costs outline:
Total: $4960 (~$250 per participant)
For the 2026 cohort, we will accept 20 applicants, who will each be paired with another participant to form a writing duo.
After surveying over 80+ AAPI writers in our community, conducting focus groups and interviews within the industry, the data our team collected highlighted a strong desire for “age-agnostic” opportunities. There are many resources available for those immediately out of college, and in the spirit of accessibility, this program is designed to provide inclusive resources to those who are looking to hone their craft that are a few years into the work force and feel they may have missed that chance.
Thank you for supporting the AAPI community. Our programs and publications intentionally center the voices of creators of all Asian backgrounds (including mixed-race Asians and adoptees). Out of respect, we ask that all allies refrain from taking space in our publications to make room for more diverse voices.
You do not need any specific qualifications to apply, except for an eagerness to engage with the AAPI creative community. We ask that applicants consider that they will be paired with another writer, so a collaborative mindset is necessary.
You also do not have to be published. Blank Page Revival is an opportunity for writers of all levels to build networks of support, practice consistency and jumpstart a fresh piece.
Ideally, our cohort will be AAPI community members eager to rethink their relationship with creativity and challenge their inner critic. Participants should be excited about the prospect of collaboration and writing as a means toward self-discovery.
No! In fact, BPR is looking to expand the creative community to include people from all working backgrounds.
Participation in Blank Page Revival does not guarantee publication through our Publishing House or the Slant’d literature magazine. Participants are welcome to submit their final pieces when Slant’d does a call for submissions.
We are looking for community-minded creatives with writing experience who can take writers’ work to the next level. No formal editing experience will be necessary, but some mentoring experience is preferred.
Studies have shown that women, enbies, and POCs are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they meet every single one of the qualifications in the job description. We encourage anyone interested to apply.
If you are able to join us for our IRL kickoff in San Francisco but you are based elsewhere in the US (or Canada), that is totally okay! In order to foster connection and rapport between writer pairs and coaches, this attendance is required.
While you don’t have to be based in San Francisco, we unfortunately cannot subsidize travel at this time.
Due to the volume of applications and Slant’d being a completely volunteer-run organization, we regrettably can’t respond personally to every submission. If you are accepted as a part of our 2026 cohort, then you will be notified by mid-July.
A virtual training session will be held with all coaches prior to the kickoff event; specific date and time will be confirmed at a later date.
Coaches are expected to commit to:
Virtual writing sessions are suggested to be 60-90 minutes long. Coaches are expected to review their duo’s writing during the week, and to stay in contact with the Slant’d team and other coaches over Slack. We are a community, and coaches will be provided with genre resources, a 3-week curriculum, and live support from the Slant’d Programs team throughout the program.
This is a volunteer position. Writing coaches that complete the month-long program will be given a humble gratitude stipend of $200 for their time, preparation, and commitment. We are so thankful!
